Mastered For iTunes

By Nick Landis on Sunday Jun, 17th 2012

Mastered for iTunes made a splash a few months ago when Apple made the announcement that they would accept higher resolution masters for AAC (like MP3) release. I was highly skeptical that it would make the files sound better.

Yesterday, at a NARAS P&E wing event I had the opportunity to give a listen to some 24 bit 96khz PCM source material and compare to the standard release codec and the MFiT codec. I was surprised to say the least!  It made a huge difference.   I'm excited to start sending 24 bit masters for the MFiT program and see how they come out the other side.
